Additional comments from the compiler of this website database. I personally worked at Ground Zero as a volunteer Rescue Worker in September and October of 2001, in charge of a Search and Rescue Dog Team, and after the first week and a half of sleeping on the concrete floor at the PS-89 school on Vessey Street during our rest break, our complete dog team was invited to come to the Plaza Hotel to sleep when ever we wanted to.
The owner, management and staff of the Plaza has my undying thanks for all the room and board, full meals and refreshments and excellent service that they so generously donated to not only our team but to the over 100 other fire and police service personnel that came in from out of town to volunteer in the effort to help New York City in such a horrible situation.
So as a personal favor, if you are in the market for a Luxury New York City Accommodation, the Plaza is right up at the top, please tell us if you choose this hotel for your stay.
